These are a few select shots from the last few days at Brighton Utah.  As you can tell, the snow has been deep.  I will have an edit up soon!

I was hoping that I would have a chance to edit some of my thanksgiving footage before my final exams snuck up on me.  I failed.  I will get some editing done over Christmas.

Brighton received something like 50" of snow the week of Thanksgiving.  It made for some excellent skiing.  Every lift on the mountain was open by Thanksgiving day.  That does not happen often.  What else does not happen often?  Skiing powder this deep in November.

This first picture is from Wednesday, November 24th.  The high temperature that day was -1F.  With wind chill it was dipping down closer to -27F.  It was definitely one of the colder days that Utah sees.

This next shot is from Thanksgiving day.  I rode with Mitch Potter for most of the day that day.  My brother in law, my sister (his wife) and his brother were all too lazy to come up that day.  Boy did they miss out!  Millicent at Brighton opened early and there was plenty of powder, pillows, and cliffs to be had by all.  This picture is from one of my last runs of the day.  It is a little pillow line on Mt. Millicent.  It obviously isn't the steepest or sketchiest pillow line in the world, but it was A LOT of fun!

Wish me luck with finals, and keep your eyes out for reviews of the Surface New Life skis, POC receptor helmet, POC Lobes Goggles, POC cornea goggles, Columbia Powder Bowl jacket, and the Backcountry Access Squall pack!  I will have those posted soon!

Brighton, UT - 11/12/2010 from D. Joshua Christensen on Vimeo.

Brighton Ski Resort in Big Cottonwood Canyon outside of Salt Lake City, Utah opened this weekend. I headed up after class on Friday and got in a few runs. I was expecting to only ski park, but after a few laps on Snake Creek I found some nice pow stashes. Man, it is weird to ski powder on a non-rockered 80mm wide park ski, but also somewhat fun. I put on the helmet camera for a few laps and had an overall awesome day considering it is only NOVEMBER!

Tons of Snow 10/30/2010

It snowed over 4 feet in some parts of the Wasatch Mountains this week.  I unfortunately was stuck in school working on a few projects that are due next week.  Oh well, soon enough we will have more snow.  My buddy Mitch Potter and some of his friends had the chance to get up at Alta and enjoy the fresh snow.  I can't believe how deep it was for October!

Fall break really was a great time.  Here are a few more pictures.  The first one is of Jeff trying his first whirlybird, he almost landed tantrum to blind but lost the rope after the landing.  The second one is just of me doing a regular old backroll.

Fall Break 10/19/2010

Law school has kept me pretty busy the last month or so, I have still gotten some good footage, but most of my time has been spent in front of books.  This week was a great break, I got to spend 4 days at Lake Powell.  Here are some still shots from some of the footage I got.  I have some plans to use the footage around December, so if you want to see some summer stuff check back then.

Water Ramps 09/21/2010

Jeff and I went up to the water ramps in Park City this week to practice some tricks.  We have gone before, and it is a really good time.  If you have never been, I highly recommend you check it out.   They have different size jumps so that you can work on anything from a 180 all the way up to a triple cork 1440 or beyond.   Here is a link to their website.

My group decided to start out with warm ups on the trampoline.  This meant, however, that we only got about 1 hour on the ramps.  So I would recommend you get a trick in your head that you want to work on, do it a few times on the tramp, and then move on..in order to maximize your time on the water.

If you have never been to the water ramps before, they are way more fun that you would imagine.  To help keep you from slapping on the water, the park blows air bubbles up to break up the surface tension.  The air also makes the landing feel slightly more firm, like snow.

I was working on Cork 9's and 10's today.  For some reason that trick has always been a bugger for me to stomp.    My 3rd jump my ski came off on the lip because I set the spin too hard.  They ended up telling me that the jumps would close in 10 minutes anyway and wouldn't let me swim down to get my ski until after the session closed.  I was bummed.

Because I couldn't jump anymore I gave my GoPro Camera and Chest Mount to my brother Jeff.  I told him to do something sick, and he really did. He had never attempted a double flip before, but he almost stuck this one.  Video below:

As you know, I like to post videos of my bro's here on my website.  This one, however, is really unique.  Trevor Evans has been skiing with me for a while, has been in all of my clandestino videos, and is an all around awesome skier.  Last week Trevor entered a video contest for Ski Utah.  Check out his entry:

After checking out his entry, go ahead and and check out all the entires on Ski Utah's home page.  Finally, go become a fan of the Ski Utah Yeti on Facebook and let him know that Trevor Evans should win that contest!  Here is a link to that facebook fan page!

Brady has been absolutely killing it with the amount of video he has been editing and compiling.  This most recent edit has a ton of sick lines and cliffs, so check it out for sure.  Maybe Brady will be kind enough to comment on how much he likes those Faction skis...
