2011 Rossignol S6 (rocker) - 186
Bottom Line: This is a great improvement over the Rossignol S6 and Steeze. Rossignol added slight continuous rocker to this ski for 2010/2011. They also made the ski slightly punchier in the tail. This ski floats better in powder than the last version, but it does struggle on groomers more than the old version as well.
Pros: Rocker was a welcome change for the S6 in 2011. The rocker on this ski is very slight, similar to the 2010 Volkl Gotama ski. This allows the ski to still maintain contact through its turn radius on groomers, while still adding the loose feeling of rocker in powder. The tail is slightly stiffer than in the older versions as well, so it does want to charge harder than before.
While rocker has seemed to be a somewhat niche market in the past, skis like th 2011 Rossignol S6 will help bring rocker to the masses. The S6 was always a great all-mountain powder ski, the 2011 version makes the S6 perform even better off piste, while still remaining a strong competitor everywhere else on the mountain.
Cons: The rocker that was added for 2011 made the skis on piste performance suffer. On groomed snow the ski basically feels like an older version S6 that hasn't been tuned in 2 years. In powder/crud however, the performance has been greatly improved.
I had a picture of these skis after I skied them, so that I could show you the rocker profile etc. But they got deleted from my memory card.
